Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) was developed as a direct result of the existing operational need to replace the already-aging High Mobility Multi-Wheeled Vehicles. JLTV was designed to replace and even exceed the original payload and mobility capabilities of the HMMWV. The main transport capabilities were maintained and the protection and survivability capabilities were improved. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle had an improved sustainability and this is one of the main reasons why this vehicle is highly popular and effective on the battlefield.
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle includes multiple Mission Role Variants; these variants share the same major components that increase the degree of the material interoperability when on the battlefield. For instance, the multiple Mission Role Variants include the Combat Tactical Vehicle (CTV), the Long Range Surveillance (LRS) variant for all the reconnaissance forces and the Utility Variant (UVL). Each of these variants was tailored to have multiple configurations that accomplish unique mission tasks. The fuel efficiency goals were also taken into account. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was designed as a truly effective armored vehicle.
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is a tactical wheeled vehicle that provides an increased force and sustained mobility when dealing with irregular warfare operations. The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is a highly effective tactical vehicle that is used by the American Marine Corps and Army. This vehicle is capable of sustaining and performing a wide range of mission roles. It was designed in order to provide sustained, protected and networked mobility on the battlefield. The payloads and personnel will be able to engage in a wide range of military operations because Joint Light Tactical Vehicle has been designed by paying attention to the needed performance and increased protection that are mandatory for the current fleets. The ownership costs were minimised and the fuel efficiency and commonality maximised for efficient maintenance of the vehicle.
Designed For Combat and Patrol Missions
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is an effective support vehicle that was designed and developed by the US forces. The Marine Corps, US Army and USSOCOM have used the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle to replace old tactical vehicles. This vehicle was designed in order to provide the crew with increased survivability when dealing with a wide range of insurgent attacks. For instance, road-side bombings can be handled because Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was designed in order to provide its crew with the necessary protection. This vehicle also has a great payload as the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was especially designed for combat and patrol operations.
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle has 5 armored versions including reconnaissance vehicles, infantry combat vehicles, armored utility vehicles and command vehicles. Actually, the tactical vehicles belonging to this family are categorised according to their general mission requirements and payload. According to this, Joint Light Tactical Vehicle has 3 main variations according to the general joint functional concepts: battle space awareness, the focused logistics and the force application. There are also 3 main payload capacity categories A, B and C. They correspond to the 3,500lb (1,600kg) version, 4,000lb to 4,500 lb (1,800kg to 2,000kg) version and 5,100lb (2,300kg) version.
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle has a 30kW generator in order to provide sustained power with its engine running. This power will also be provided when Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is moving on irregular terrains and during the fight. The trailer of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is capable of carrying the same payload as Joint Light Tactical Vehicle at maximum speed and with the reliability to match. The ammo-carrying capacity of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is as follows: each tactical vehicle belonging to this family will have the genuine capacity to carry 2 cans of M16 ammo, 1 can of M203, 4 cans of M249 and 5-6 cans of either MK19, M2 or M60 / M240 ammo.
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was provided with some well designed and jam-resistant doors. These doors can be used for easy escape after quick attack or serious damage because the protection of the crew is mandatory when on the battlefield. This tactical vehicle was also provided with an automatic fire-extinguishing system. The crew can also benefit from the extra liner designed to minimise the possible effects of perforation that may occur during or after the small-arms attacks. The 2 armor configurations of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle can be used in order to protect the crew from different threats when on the battlefield. For instance, protection against RPG warheads, artillery and mines can be expected because this vehicle was designed in order to provide its crew with increased protection. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle has run-flat tires and especially designed systems that will help the vehicle to keep going even after small arms attacks to important vehicle systems such as the fuel tank, the coolant tank or the engine oil reservoir. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was also provided with electronic monitoring to diagnose all equipment and system failures as soon as they occur in order to have them fixed without loosing precious time.
The American Defense Department uses this Joint Light Tactical Vehicle in various military operations because it is stronger and more survivable when compared to other armored and tactical vehicles used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is more mobile and more maneuverable and the latest upgrades of this vehicle have already proven their increased resistance to mines and small attacks. This vehicle is already deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan where it can perform a wide range of military operations such as the cargo hauling and reconnaissance. It can also serve as a highly effective and mobile command center thanks to its diesel-electric drive and its truly unique approach when it comes to providing even more power. The latest upgrades enable the high performance of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, to provide better protection. The latest upgrades are also easier to maintain. The Diesel electric can provide greater amounts of engine power in order to increase the overall vehicle performance. This system also generates enough exportable power to run the necessary field hospital. Even the tactical operations center can be run and every battlefield system can be accomplished thanks to the latest upgrades of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle. Its design includes the basic armor protection package and the necessary provisions in order to accommodate an additional armor kit.
The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle's power plant was designed to supply the power for the on-board electronic components. This power will enable the continuous and military network-enabled operations. The engine of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was designed in order to provide a primary source of the necessary electrical power but its power plant was also designed in order to provide the external power for all the dismounted users especially during their extended silent watch.
