Through the guiding vision of MMIC’s founder, Rick Cochran, President and CEO, the first Mobile Surgery Unit™ was introduced in 1996. A yearlong process of clinical trials and evaluations then began with a wide variety of medical field users, including the military, hospitals, and private physicians. These efforts, and many others, ensured that the unit was not only meeting the original vision, but also providing immeasurable value to both the medical professionals and the communities they served.
MMIC was granted the first state license for a mobile ambulatory surgery center in 1998 and currently is still the only U.S. company with a licensed and Medicare certified mobile operating room.
