Military Mobile Bridges - Leading Bridge Technology

The leading system provider of armored wheeled and tracked vehicles in Europe is Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW).

Krauss Maffei’s business unit Military Mobile Bridges (MMB) is located in Mainz /Germany and has been developing and producing internationally leading bridge systems since the 1950s.

The comprehensive product portfolio ranges from bridges for wheeled and tracked vehicles of load class MLC 70, to air-transportable systems with medium and light-weight carrying capacity for fast attack troops, to floating and support bridges.

Its expertise includes comprehensive project management, the engineering and manufacturing of bridge systems, the definition and realization of interfaces with the respective carrier vehicle, and the development and manufacture of hydraulic and electronic controls.

For example, the LEGUAN bridge system has been successfully used on the carrier vehicles LEOARD 1 and 2, M47, M60, MA1/A2 Wolverine, the PT91 / T72 and heavy trucks.

The new Modular Bridge System PSB2 (Panzerschnellbrücke 2) is mounted on Leopard 2.
