BTC have highly trained and dedicated staff with experience and know-how that are ready to assist manufacturers of both defence systems and commercial products in solving their problems through testing components, subassemblies and complete systems for defence purposes.
BTC can even perform complete combat sequence tests. Material, photographic, radiographic and complete tests and analyses can be carried out.
BTC have a complete environmental laboratory to support the clients though the qualification sequence for there products. In collaboration with a partner, electromagnetic environment tests can also be performed.
The Bofors Proving Ground is 30 km long and 6 km wide. It has a well organized infrastructure with 240km of road system that interconnects all the test sites, laboratories, offices and other buildings.
They also have the possibility to use army test ranges that have control of larger areas. Although live firing tests of defence systems is Bofors Test Centers core business their proving ground is always ready to serve the commercial market.
This facility has an optical measurements platform for tracking and high speed video registrations. The Military Technology Test Area has the capability to fully document a complete 10 mile trajectory from launch position through separation phases until impact. The tracking system use IR- and video equipment to monitor the object at all time. The impact area is a fully flat gravel surface of 600 x 600m.
A Test facility for the complete qualification of ammunition, propellant and weapon systems. BTC has the recourses needed to fulfil the requirements for all inner ballistic tests. Advanced Doppler radar systems and pressure transducers are used to register data through the test phase. Data is then recorded with high resolution recording system form Nicolet with a maximum sampling rate of 1MHz. Ready access is also available to the Swedish Armed Forces firing range in Älvdalen, with an area of 440 km2and a maximum firing range of 50km. The test area is highly suitable for long range artillery and missile test firings.
The wind tunnel can be run at Mach numbers 0.1 to 3.6. The pre-heater can be used to simulate aerodynamic heating at high Mach numbers and high air temperatures. The 6-component force balance is mounted on the sword of the force balance fixture, allowing a vertical sweep to be made within 30 degrees.
Our telemetry ground station consists of a portable telemetry unit, (PCM-coding), and a portable tracking antenna, with 19 dB gain.With a tracking range up to 100 kmand an operating frequency of 1435-2350 MHz and handles bitrates up to 10 Mbit/sec. The antenna can follow a pre programmed trajectory as well as auto track.
Flash X-ray Laboratory for filming a sequence of event in smoke or bad visibility and also for statistical testing. 500kV makes it possible to penetrate thick objects with high density. We can simulate all kinds of climate and mechanical factors using the Environmental Test Laboratory, for example vibration, chock, drop, sand and dust, sun, pressure and so on.
BTC performs tests according to MIL-STN 2105C and STANAG 4439 including tests such as Insensitive Munitions tests, Fragment Impact, Bullet Attack, Fast Cook Off, Slow Cook Off, Sympathetic reaction, Shape charge Jet- and Spall Impact test.
