The JCB Defence range includes specialised high-mobility machines, plus more than 290 commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) vehicles, which can be modified to meet military requirements (MOTS) for digging, lifting, excavating and construction.
Military Construction Vehicles
JCB developed the unique high-mobility machine range specifically to meet the challenges created by emerging defence doctrines and operational levels, with their emphases upon high mobility at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. All 3 machines feature full suspension, and ABS braking, a top speed in excess of 55mph (88kph) and exceptional cross country mobility. They are transportable in a C-130, and the HMRTF can also be moved in a standard ISO 20ft container.
This highly specialised range of Military Construction Vehicles consists of a high-mobility backhoe loader (HMEE); a Rough Terrain Forklift (HMRTF), and the utility logistic vehicle, the JCB Fastrac (HMF).
Full crew protection is available and all three machines share the same logistical footprint. Utilising the wide range of JCB attachments, these machines offer maximum versatility and minimum fuss across the full spectrum of possible tasks.
COTS Machines (Commercial off-the-shelf machines)
The JCB commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) range encompasses backhoe loaders, telescopic handlers, tracked and wheeled excavators, wheeled loading shovels, articulated dump trucks, mini excavators, skid steer and tracked loaders, plus compaction machines, tractors and groundcare equipment, along with a vast range of attachments. JCB COTS offers exceptional versatility - these machines can be used for diverse applications including excavating, lifting, precision construction, logistic support, transport and even drilling and power generation.
MOTS Machines (Militarised off-the-shelf machines)
Based on the standard COTS range, JCB militarised off-the-shelf (MOTS) machines are modified to meet military requirements. Many modifications are available, including 24 volt system, IRR or CARC paint, convoy and black-out lighting, crew protection (armoured cab or components) improved wading capability with different exhaust and air intake structure and components, NATO slave socket and external cut-off switch, non standard tyre inflation systems, run-flat systems, strengthened tie down points for air transportation, helicopter lifting points or shackles, reduced height cab (C130 Hercules compliant), electrical and climatic protection and specialist storage.
Construction Vehicle Support
We work closely with the JCB commercial support and back-up service, utilising over 1,000 dealer depots in 150 countries and 12 strategically placed, state-of-the-art parts warehouses around the world. Using the latest logistics and warehouse management systems we ensure that any required parts are normally delivered, anywhere in the world, within 24 hours.
Integrated logistic Support (ILS)
JCB's tailored Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) service provides a cost-effective support infrastructure through the whole life of our machines (ISO Standard 10303). All together it means that JCB's back-up service is quite simply the best in the business and that through-life support is available for every JCB machine.
In addition, JCB produces technical publications in military-approved formats.
