Kaydon Bearings Division, headquartered in Muskegon, Michigan, is a leading developer and manufacturer of rolling element bearings for both military and industrial use.

Commercial and Military Bearings

Since its’ foundation in 1941, when the U.S. Navy asked Kaydon® to meet its pressing need for large, precision gun-mount militarybearings, we have continued to lead the way in developing custom-designed bearings for military and commercial applications.

Thin Section Ball Bearings

Kaydon® is also a pioneer and the world leader in the area of thin-section bearing technology. Kaydon® standard series Reali-Slim® ball bearings offer light weight in large diameters, with worldwide availability, frequently off the shelf. With cross sections from 3/16” to 1” and internal diameters from 1” to 40” Kaydon® is able to offer the ideal solution where weight and space are at a premium.

Kaydon® provides industry with more than bearings. Our engineers help equipment manufacturers optimize their designs by incorporating gearing, sealing and mounting features into the bearing design, or by selecting special configurations, materials, coatings and lubricants for optimum system performance. In summary, we’ll design and manufacture custom bearings large or small. We’ll meet a demanding specification, and work with you beyond its requirements to help you get the job done.

Turntable and Slewing Ring Bearings

When it comes to turntable bearings or slewing ring bearings, Kaydon® is able to manufacture from 10” to 240” outside diameter and offers a comprehensive bearing repair and reconditioning program.

Military Bearings for Vehicle Turrets

Primary application areas where Kaydon® bearings are used include:

  • Swash plate bearings which transmit the cyclical pitch controls from the pilot to the rotor blades.
  • Aircraft Landing Gear Wheels.
  • Armed vehicle turrets, weapons support systems, and targeting pods.
  • Radar antenna and marine radar.
  • Industrial robots. Thin section bearings are used in the “wrist” and “arm” joints while turntable style bearings are used in the “shoulder” and “waist”.
  • Medical and Industrial Scanners.
  • Semiconductor fabrication equipment. Thin section bearings allow low torque while retaining high stiffness and positional accuracy.
  • Wind Turbines. Pitch and yaw bearings up to 10 feet in diameter.
  • Offshore and land based cranes.
