Established in 2001 to give access for the wider Defence Contractor market to the ground-training portfolio of the RAF.  Horizons unrivalled access to the Technical Defence College Network.  We have provided training across all areas of the aeronautical sector through DCAE Cosford and Air Command Units.

Mechanical and Electrical training is primarily delivered through RAF StAthan whilst Communication training comes through the sites commanded by DCCIS. The Training support courses delivered by DCTS are a pre-requisite for all military instructors.

Aeronautical Electrical Defence Training and Engineering

Delivered primarily through the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering (DCAE), both basic and advanced engineering training can be delivered including:

  • Aeronautical airframe engineering training.
  • Aeronautical propulsion engineering training.
  • Avionic engineering training.
  • Safety Equipment including ejector seats.
  • Damage repair including composite materials.
  • Aeronautical electrical engineering.

All aeronautical engineering training is underpinned by sound theoretical instruction and backed up with experience on real airframes including: Tornado, Harrier, Hawk and Sea King.

VHF, HF Network Radio Frequency Communication Training

The Defence College of Communication and Information Systems covers all aspects of Battlespace Spectrum.  Training is available in both secure and insecure VHF and HF radio Networks.  Information security and Information Assurance covering every aspect a user needs to know, from project initiation to ongoing delivery.

Modern cable repair techniques including single and multimode fibre optic repair training is available upon request. Antenna installation and mast repair training is delivered via RAF Digby as is working safely at heights training. General electronic training as well as advanced RADAR maintenance training courses are available at No1 Radio School.

Air Force Electrical and Mechanical Engineer Training

Delivered, primarily, through RAF St Athan Mechanical engineering training is available across a wide range of discipline and skill levels including:

  • Basic and advanced mechanical engineering training.
  • Basic and advanced electrical installations.
  • Automotive engineering training, covering all aspects of motor vehicles.
  • Mechanical workshop skills (milling, grinding, CNC etc).
  • Arc, TIG and MIG welding courses.
  • The maintenance and safe user of portable power supplies, generators etc.
  • Air Conditioning Plant maintenance training.
  • Bespoke, tailor made mechanical engineering training courses are also available on request.

Military Training Support Courses
