Portsmouth Aviation (PA) is an established defence equipment supplier with design, development and manufacturing capability. The company can provide a range of products. These include CBRN collective protection systems for navy, vehicle, flexible and rapidly deployable shelters, building and mail handling applications.
PA can also provide weapon container systems, practice bombs, weapon handling equipment and data loggers. The Company also has a well established Aircraft Integration Department, which has experience across a range of aircraft platforms including Eurofighter Typhoon and Tornado.
CBRN Protection
With over 30 years experience in the design and manufacture of Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) collective protection systems PA can supply systems for most requirements.
We are able to provide radial filter units for ships, systems for mobile and hardened shelters as well as a fully integrated vehicle CBRN / environmental control system.
Tested to exacting military standards the equipment is tough and reliable. These systems have been supplied around the world to protect personnel and equipment from the sudden release of CBRN agents.
Weapon Containers
PA has supplied many hundreds of weapon container systems for the Ministry of Defence. The company designed, developed and manufactured the systems to demanding defence standard requirements.
PA has excellent design capability including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which significantly reduces the risk associated with qualifying the system.
The company has in-house CNC machining capability, supported by a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to ensure a high quality of manufacture. The company also has a number of Lloyd approved welders to carry out the fabrication of the containers.
14kg and 3kg Practice Bombs
PA has been a leading provider of practice bombs to the UK Ministry of Defence for nearly 20 years. The Company provides two variants, the 14kg and the 3kg Practice Bomb, which provide inexpensive training units for aircrew.
The practice bombs are capable of being used on soft (water) and hard (concrete) targets. The smoke and flash signal is visible at a distance of up to 3000 metres.
They are designed to include a number of safety features. The simplicity of the design and its method of operation ensure a very high operating functional performance when used in training.
Weapon Handling
The Company has provided weapon handling equipment to 
meet Naval and Air Force specifications and requirements. With design and manufacturing capability PA can design, develop and manufacture these systems to meet a number of applications.
The Type W Weapon Loader was supplied to the UK and Royal Saudi Air Force and the Depth Charge and Torpedo Trolleys have been supplied to the UK and a number of International navies.
