Ciprico, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets storage and system solutions for digital media applications that simplify and accelerate digital media workflows. Our storage solutions are designed for visual computing applications ranging from high-speed image data capture, through processing and analysis, to real-time playback at sustained performance levels. Visual computing refers to the digital representation and complex image processing of film, video, graphics, photographs, animation, special effects, three-dimensional images, and other images.

Founded in 1978, Ciprico has built a strong reputation for providing flexible, high performance digital storage solutions using disk array products specifically designed to meet the demanding data transfer rate, storage capacity, and data redundancy needs of visual computing markets. Our primary focus is the military and government, and broadcast and entertainment media markets, as well as select other segments, such as asset management and medical imaging.

Inherent to all the applications within each of our markets is a “digital media workflow” – each industry’s version of a production line. For military applications, the workflow begins with surveillance and reconnaissance gathering, followed by image processing, and concluding with the dissemination of data to military commanders in the field and analysts at various DoD agencies. In the case of the broadcast market, the workflow is characterized by ingesting incoming video feeds from satellites and remote news crews; editing the raw video to prepare the news story; and then a “play-to-air” process where the video is broadcast from the network feed.

Ciprico has four product families for a variety of applications within these markets: DiMeda™, TALON™, FibreSTORE®, and the 7000 Fibre Channel series. The products are sold principally to original equipment manufacturers and system integrators through a direct sales force, including international sales offices in the United Kingdom.
