Biral provides bio detection systems which enable commanders to take fast, accurate decisions to mobilise and protect personnel in the event of attack from biological warfare agents.
From listening to our customers we understand the need for affordable biodetectors with rapid response times and low false alarm rates and have designed and manufactured biodetectors that provide an exceptional detect to warn capability.
Early warning of potential biological attack is paramount and by monitoring the surrounding atmosphere continuously in real time, our latest sensor VeroTect provides this early warning in less than 30 seconds.
Sensors with low false alarm rates enable commanders to make accurate decisions quickly for the protection of their personnel with the confidence that personal protective equipment is only deployed in real attack situations. One of VeroTect's major advantages is that it minimises false alarms from common interferents found on the battlefield such as smokes and diesel fuels. It does this in the unique way it analyses the number, size, shape and fluorescence of particles in the surrounding atmosphere combined with powerful but easy to use and adaptable detection software to provide a simple Yes/No alarm.
Affordable system costs are also a high customer priority and since our biodetectors require no costly consumables and reagents, massive cost savings are achieved throughout their entire service life.
On the strength of these advantages UK MoD has chosen VeroTect for the new ISMS, Integrated Sensor Management System. ISMS will provide a unique deployment of real-time generic biodetection capability with wide area network coverage for greater protection and security of its personnel and infrastructure.
The technology has a trusted pedigree being an original UK invention from DSTL, Porton Down and the University of Hertfordshire, which Biral then developed into operational, robust and reliable products.
Biral biodetectors have been successfully deployed in the UK Armed Forces Prototype Biological Detection System, (PBDS) for over a decade and are a key element in the upgraded Integrated Biological Detection System (IBDS). The Japanese Defence Agency has also deployed Biral Biosensors.
To further aid commander decision making and as part of a complete solution we can supply a portable, fully sealed, easily decontaminated weather station (WeatherPak ®) that is deployable within 60 seconds. Met data is therefore available to track the likely bio threat plume/cloud size and dispersion.
