General Dynamics Land Systems is developing the Future Force Warrior, a "system of systems" for the Soldier. The company was awarded the advanced technology demonstration program for the completion of detailed designs over a 25-month period (June 2003-July 2005).
The Army’s vision is of a highly lethal, survivable, networked Soldier within a small combat team operating across a spectrum of future Army and joint service operations.
The Future Force Warrior will be equipped with self-protection gear, a range of weapons of varying lethality, and will be completely integrated into the fire support systems and C4ISR components of the Army’s Future Force.
In February 2003, General Dynamics was awarded an Army contract to enhance the current version of its Land Warrior System. Land Systems is partnered with the Army’s prime contractor, General Dynamics Decision Systems, on the project, which is the first step toward Future Force Warrior.
The first systems under the contract are scheduled for delivery to PEO Soldier in 2005. Land Warrior provides significant improvement in lethality, survivability, battle command, mobility, and tactical awareness to U.S. Soldiers.
