Homeland Security Communications and Surveillance Highlighted by VISLINK at Intersec Middle East 2008
VISLINK Group plc's specialist Defence, Law Enforcement and Security (DLES) business development initiative is focusing on homeland security communications and surveillance, on Stand No: 923P (UK Pavilion Police) at Intersec Middle East, taking place in Dubai from 13-15 January 2008.
Satellite Security Communications and Strategic Video Surveillance System
On show are two solutions from VISLINK's DLES portfolio - the Summit Flyaway Satellite System, and the Digital Urban Video (DUV) strategic video surveillance system. The Summit Flyaway Satellite System is a lightweight auto acquisition terminal that is designed to address military and government agency applications. Summit's comprehensive facilities include remote Internet and VPN connectivity, as well as high performance video conferencing, providing a fully integrated and rugged solution for fast deployment satellite communications. The Summit delivers secure, network-centric theatre communications in any environment, irrespective of the conditions.
Conceived as a complete system, the Summit provides every component required in a compact portable package - Solid State Power Amplifier, Block Upconverter, Electronic Compass & Inclinometer, and GPS Antenna. The antenna is compatible with industry standard modems and encryption components. The Summit's design combines advanced electronics, using high grade components, with state of the art carbon fibre construction for the maximum strength and portability. It is the result of more than 30 years' expertise across all aspects of electrical design, integrated electronics and construction of satellite antenna products. The 1.0 metre antenna is configured for Ku or Ka bands, and can be set up by a single unskilled operator without the need for tools in minutes.
Military and Security Video Surveillance System
The Digital Urban Video (DUV) strategic video surveillance system is designed principally for use in urban environments by government security agencies and military deployment. The DUV enables video surveillance to be conducted in densely built-up areas and over significantly extended ranges. Based on Link Research's proven technology in the demanding field of global broadcasting, the new DUV system is a direct response to the requirement for improved counter-terrorism surveillance in urban environments, representing a major advance in reliable transmission and image resolution for mission-critical applications.
Conceived as a scalable, high power and portable system, the DUV is actually able to capitalise on the multiple signal reflections in urban areas, recombining the video transmission input from up to 2000 separate signal carriers to enhance performance and deliver remarkable results. Link Research's proprietary low latency Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (COFDM) radio technology overcomes the traditional issues of multi-path distortion and transmission failure in typical urban environments.
Digital Video Microwave Communications
VISLINK's dedicated DLES business initiative has access to more than 400 specialists worldwide, harnessing three key technology strands to create best of breed systems for government agency and defence applications. These are drawn from Advent Communications' industry leading end-to-end ultra lightweight satellite communications systems, designed for rapid deployment; Link Research's low latency COFDM-based covert and overt digital video surveillance systems, optimised for use in built-up city centres; and Microwave Radio Communications' fixed and portable digital microwave data links, specialising in networked solutions and real time airborne video downlinks.
