January, 2004 - North Billerica, Massachusetts - Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) announced that the United States Air Force has chosen to use MRC microwave technology in the upgrade of its air traffic control and landing system.
MRC systems are being integrated with existing electronics hardware to enhance in-theatre communications capability in remote and mobile operations. MRC systems will be used to relay precision approach radar (PAR) and airport surveillance radar (ASR) via microwave links.
This upgrade is a result of a very successful teaming arrangement between MRC, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, OK (OC-ALC), and Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC), GA. Due to support problems with the existing microwave subsystems in the AN/TPN-19, Ms. Denise Hay, OC-ALC (the program manager for the AN/TPN-19) and Mr. Launce Burgan, WR-ALC (program manager for the AN/GRC-239) initiated an engineering effort with MRC which proved the AN/GRC-239 could resolve the support problem and enhance the system's communications capability. MRC, in concert with OC-ALC and WR-ALC, has completed the prototype and has scheduled the upgrades for the remaining systems.
Tony Finizio, President of MRC states, “MRC radios have been supporting military operations for over a decade. The commission to upgrade this critical link is the latest in a long, successful deployment of MRC technology. We are proud to have been chosen for this requirement, and remain committed to providing cost-effective solutions and products that maintain interoperability with existing and future systems.”
MRC’s reputation has been built upon supplying complete systems solutions, not merely off-the-shelf, stand-alone products. MRC provides complete systems and services for fixed and mobile applications that require un-compromised transmission quality and reliability.
