Rifle Regiment Sword

Crisp & Sons

The Rifle Regiment Sword, a 32.5 inch tempered Carbon Steel, mirror polished sword. Manufactured to MoD specifications

Individually made and crafted to order, The Rifle Regiment Sword, which established the pattern later adopted by all Guards regiments, features the same 32.5” long straight, spear pointed, carbon steel blade as the Infantry officers sword etched with the regimental Crest.

Rifle Regiment Officers Sword

The 1822 Dress Regulations prescribed the same sword for officers of rifle regiments, but with a steel scabbard in Undress, the black leather scabbard being used for full dress and in the evenings. This clearly went against the traditions which rifle regiments had built up, based on exclusivity, and a Circular Memorandum issued by the Adjutant-General on 17 June 1827 authorised rifle regiments to carry a steel-hilted sword of Gothic pattern but with the royal cipher in the guard replaced by a crown and stringed bugle.
