CTR has developed the first Level 3 Surveillance Training Course which is recognised by the Skills for Security and National Open College Network.
The security industry today is dynamic in the way in which it is constantly evolving to meet each new standard introduced, with the new legislation introduced to ensure practitioners of various security related disciplines meet the high standards that clients deserve the security industry has been required to evolve from within producing a more defined approach to security.
CTR Services have aided this change in providing training to not just students of the security industry but also its own employees maintaining a professional approach to the new legislation and its clients. With this in mind we have developed security related training courses to promote a higher standard within our company and also within the security industry. With the introduction of the protective security course forming part of the foundation degree within the protective security sector we have produced further courses which will broaden the student's knowledge and practical ability enhancing their status within the security field.
CTR Services provide a six day Surveillance training and Intelligence Officers course which is accredited at Level 3 through the National Open College Network and recognised through Skills for Security. This enables students to gain a recognised qualification within the surveillance industry. The surveillance training course has been designed to meet the requirements of most levels from basic through to advanced operators with the instructors possessing vast experience including commercial, military and government backgrounds.
On completion of the surveillance training course students will gain a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification though the National Open College Network and will be awarded a certificate of completion from the NOCN and also CTR High Risk Security & Investigations Ltd.

Course Outline:
The training course is held over a period of six days allowing students to cover ten mandatory modules as outlined below:
- Module 1: Introduction to Surveillance & Roles of the Surveillance Operative
- Module 2: Stages of Surveillance
- Module 3: Static Surveillance
- Module 4: Mobile Surveillance
- Module 5: Technical Surveillance
- Module 6: Planning & Preparation
- Module 7: The Intelligence Cycle
- Module 8: Legislation
- Module 9: Surveillance Awareness
- Module 10: Equipment & Photography
The surveillance training course will be delivered to ensure students cover the theory aspect of surveillance and then progress to the practical aspects culminating in structured exercises allowing the students to practice what they have been taught throughout the course. On completion students will be able to conduct surveillance activities including covert methods in a competent and professional manner and possess a working knowledge of the legislation relevant to surveillance.
CTR Services provides accommodation and all training materials which are included in the course fee with a vast range of professional surveillance equipment at the student's disposal. Our training academy is located at the prestigious Ketteringham Hall in Norfolk offering a relaxed and professional learning environment. CTR Services also provide a unique continual professional development program, which was designed at first to provide the company operatives with career development. It is now used by many personnel external to the company that wish CTR Services to provide academic qualification programs to enhance their career.
As with our protective security course we believe in team work within the candidate learning experience and this is enhanced with candidates receiving full residential facilities at our centre accommodation, added to this the use of 40 acres of grounds from which our organisation HQ is located we can provide a fully facilitated course meeting the candidates need.
Staff instructing on the course as with the protective security course are well disciplined in their relevant fields with a mixture of government, military and commercial experience providing an open view to the art of surveillance rather than a blinkered perception of what should be taught. Instructors are both qualified in surveillance issues and as trainers possessing the relevant qualifications in line with the SIA. This wealth of experience and knowledge together with course structure, learning environment and facilities enables us to offer courses that excel in the relevant sectors.
