Britannia Defence Systems Ltd Launch Digital Video Sniper Control System

Britannia Defence Systems Ltd

2 way video/audio system for target surveillance and positive target ID.

The D-VSCS is the next generation sniper control system from Britannia 2000, designed to use the standard operating procedures currently in use for a 2 man team.

Product Code: D-VSCS

The system comprises of a Commanders portable case and small team units which have a 6” screen and transmitter/receiver. Cameras are fitted to the spotter scope and optionally to the weapon, either as a video take-off from the eyepiece or as a clip on camera. The Team units also have indicator LEDs to confirm status.

The system enables the Team Commander to view the images from a spotter or a sniper. Images from the spotter camera fixed to the spotter scope are transmitted to the Commanders portable case. Each case will receive video from 2 teams, or 1 team plus an external source such as a stand-off camera or helicopter camera. The Commander can control the zoom of the spotter’s camera fro his Control Case.

The Commander can transmit external surveillance, real time video to the Spotter or freeze an incoming image on a separate LCD screen and draw on the screen to indicate the target. This frozen image is then transmitted back to the spotter and displayed on his personal monitor to assist positive target ID. He can then pass over target information to the shooter.

Tell-back lights on the Commanders case indicate the readiness of each team.

When ‘stand by’ is announced by the Commander, he has the option of switching the incoming video from the spotter scope to the weapon camera if fitted, so that he can monitor the target prior to announcing ‘target’.

Bigger teams can be accommodated by adding an additional ‘slave’ dual team case which plugs in to the ‘Master’. Only the Master incorporates the ‘freeze and transmit’ electronics and up to 2 slaves can be added.

The system uses digital video transmission for use in built up where analogue transmission suffers from break up. Operation in open country is unaffected.
