Link Simulation & Training

L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to design and build a simulated Bell 412 helicopter cockpit.

L-3 will deliver the simulated Bell 412 helicopter cockpit to Aegis Technologies Group Inc. in 2008.

"We look forward to delivering a high fidelity simulated cockpit for the Bell 412 training system," said Greg Campbell, general manager of L-3 Link Simulation and Training division's AMI Instruments (AMI) organization. "When the cockpit is integrated with motion, visual and operating systems the end product will result in a superior training device that will provide excellent pilot training for this highly capable commercial helicopter."

AMI will supply a fully populated hardware cockpit system, including power and signal controls. Production of high precision assemblies and integration of complex flight and engine controls with other equipment will enable AMI to produce an accurate replica of the Bell 412 cockpit.

AMI is a world-leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical assemblies for simulators and other applications. The organization has produced over 100 simulated cockpits for multiple aircraft types and training equipment for most U.S. commercial and military aircraft currently in service.

AMI also designs and manufactures a broad range of equipment that supports training for submarines; surface ships; power generating plants; machinery control; and land, air and space vehicles. AMI designs and produces integrated electro-mechanical assemblies to specification and manufactures equipment to customer designs. Other services include repair, refurbishment and upgrade of simulator hardware assemblies.

Headquartered in New York City, L-3 Communications employs over 64,000 people worldwide and is a prime system contractor in aircraft modernization and maintenance, C3ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems and government services. L-3 is also a leading provider of high technology products, systems and subsystems. The company reported 2007 sales of $14 billion.
