Xenia, Ohio – Barco, a leading global provider of visual display systems, has recently been selected by CAE as its LCoS projector solutions provider.
Barco's new SIM 7 series is specially designed for simulation applications and allows CAE to offer multiple configurations on its complete range of simulators. CAE chose Barco after an extensive review of technology, engineering, manufacturing, and customer service capabilities.
Barco has had a long-standing relationship with CAE. Over the years, the company has provided various simulation projection systems for CAE's leading civil and military flight simulation programs. Barco's new SIM 7 series LCoS-based projector enables CAE to effectively meet today's demands for higher resolution, highly-realistic visual simulation.
"Today's visualization needs for flight simulation training are very demanding and require database images to be projected at the highest visual fidelity with no latency or artifacts," says Al Herman, Vice President and General Manager for Barco's Simulation business.
"The system's fast LCoS engine is optimized for multi-channel visualization and reduces smearing to CRT levels." "Our customers are continuously looking for more immersive visual cueing and lower operational costs," says Adolfo Klassen, CAE's Chief Technology Officer. "The Barco SIM 7 series is an important component in CAE's new generation visual solution offering." The Barco SIM 7 series is equipped with the industry's latest and fastest switching LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology that's tuned to deliver razor sharp, no-smear images for high-speed motion applications such as military flight training and mission rehearsal.
LCoS is Barco's technology of choice for simulation applications. The SIM 7 series is optimized to provide exceptional contrast, unmatched dynamic range, seamless image blending, and outstanding performance. In addition, the system is motion-base simulator compatible and equipped with stimulated NVG capability.
