IESS has recently launched a new Firearms Diagnostic training system, The FDU (Firearms Diagnostic Unit)provides immediate feedback on one's marksmanship, enabling a student and his trainer to instantly assess why a round missed its target and what adjustment needs to be made to correct for it.
The FDU includes a computer screen split into quadrants to show the shooter his exact line of sight (based on a camera mounted on the goggles worn by the shooter), the amount of pressure exerted pulling on the trigger (i.e., was pressure applied abruptly or gradually), his stance (based on a camera fixed on the shooter) and the impact point on the target. The instructor can evaluate the student as he fires his weapons while the date is saved to enable the student to review the screen to make his own assessment.
