VT Miltope Awarded $23M MSD-V2 Order

VT Miltope

VT Miltope, a company of VT Systems Inc, today announced an order to produce more than 3,500 rugged testers valued at $23m for the US Army’s Maintenance Support Device (MSD) Program.

This order is part of the five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract announced in November 2004. VT Miltope's share of the program is expected to be about $200m. Shipments on this latest order will begin in May and be completed by January 2008, bringing the total number of MSD-V2 rugged testers and accessories delivered on this contract to more than 8,000, totaling $57m.

The MSD-V2 is used by the US Army for at-system diagnostics and maintenance on its weapon systems, generators, aviation, missile, wheeled and tracked vehicles. It is the Army's standard Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) for all tactical maintenance applications. MSD-V2 is a rugged, compact, lightweight, portable general-purpose automatic tester used to verify the operational status of systems, isolate failures and to upload and verify software to restore or provide new software to weapons.

The MSD-V2 is based on the TSC-750M militarized laptop computer, which is designed and qualified to withstand the harshest tactical environment for computer systems and is used in forward areas under extreme weather and handling conditions. More than 20,000 of the TSC-750-based computers and accessories have been supplied to the Department of Defense by VT Miltope since 2001. Many of these systems are successfully deployed with US troops in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.

"The MSD's successful performance in Iraq validates its value to the US Army. VT Miltope is committed to meeting the US Army's evolving need to provide our soldiers in the field with the most robust computing capabilities that work in the toughest tactical environments."
