DC Portable Power Units
Red Box battery start packs range from man portable units, which are capable of starting many turbine aircraft and main battle tanks or LAV’s, to larger units for use on fixed or temporary bases. All units are capable of being transported by air, as “Non – Hazardous” equipment.
Hand portable units can be transported in the back of aircraft in any orientation, even inverted. These power packs all use batteries with the latest in dry lead acid technology, which have extremely low internal resistance and thus pack massive power for their weight.
The batteries do not need cycling and can therefore be recharged at any time. The casings are of rugged stainless steel and enclosed electronics are potted, thus rendering the units impervious to rain or snow. Each unit is supplied with a separate re charger of either dual or automatic AC input voltage selection and power cables appropriate to the vehicle or aircraft to be serviced.
Larger trolley units, which can be fitted with a tow bar, have either a heavy-duty battery set only, or a combination of heavy-duty batteries and an AC/DC power converter for supply of continuous DC for servicing.
Portable AC/DC Converters
Red Box also manufactures a series of portable AC/DC power converters, producing high quality DC for servicing equipment in workshops, laboratories or direct into aircraft/vehicle. Ideal for crew training or weapon system servicing.
These power supplies are multi fan cooled with inbuilt thermal management for operation in up to 50°C ambient environments. The safety features include: - Thermal Management, internal AC Residual Current Device, Overload and Short Circuit protection. The power modules conform to EMF standards for noise emissions and immunity.
Static or Portable Transformer Rectifier Units
When there is a requirement for 28.5v continuous power for heavy work on base, or for larger aircraft, Red Box provides Transformer Rectifier Units, which can produce up to 600 amps continuously and 2000 amps peak power for starting.
These units can be provided in both static and mobile formats. Static units can be free standing, bridge, or skid mounted, for more permanent installation, whereas the portable units are trolley mounted enabling complete manoeuvrability behind field vehicles.
Static or Portable Frequency Converters
For 400 Hz AC powered aircraft, Red Box can provide a range of frequency and voltage converters, rated from 5 to 60 KVA, for workshop or aircraft ramp use.
These units can be provided in both static and mobile formats. Static units can be free standing, bridge, or skid mounted, for more permanent installation, whereas the portable units are trolley mounted enabling complete manoeuvrability behind field vehicles.
Compact and lightweight static frequency and voltage converters can also be produced for any industrial or marine application, offering both multiple/variable voltage and frequency input and output.
Portable Search and Inspection Camera System
Red Box International Ltd serves the world in the fields of anti terrorist search, narcotics interdiction, EOD, VIP protection, urban search and rescue, aircraft field and base support.
RED BOX offers “Snake Cam”, a rapid use, highly portable, search camera system, with many accessories to aid delivery of the camera to the point of inspection.
Snake Cam is in use by Aviation and Aerospace Inspection teams, UK Customs, NATO, Police, Fire Search & Rescue Services and for VIP Security.
The system, which can be supplied in a case for immediate onsite use, comprises of a miniature CCD camera with inbuilt, cold LED illumination and a compact, hand-held TFT display, which can be rotated to maintain a “heads up picture”.
The key features of Snake Cam are:
- High quality, high resolution, colour pictures, whatever the prevailing light conditions.

- Single Operator.
- Waterproof LED camera (to 30meters depth).
Snake Cam, as with many of Red Box’s products, is designed as a ready to use solution. However, Red Box has recognised that not every application is the same and the company has earned a reputation for visiting and consulting with clients, to provide the customer with both a technical and cost effective solution. Often, this means the in-house redesign and manufacture of a unique client feature, adaptor or accessory.
