VT Miltope Receives $6.4m for Next Generation Military Rugged Laptop for The US Army

VT Miltope

VT Miltope, a company of Vision Technology Systems, today announced that it has received a $6.4 million order for its new TSC-750M 915 configuration, for the Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) Portable Computing Unit (PCU).

The order includes 582 TSC-750M AMPS PCU Kits and 542 upgrades to the TSC- 750M computers already fielded. Deliveries are scheduled to begin this month and are to be completed by 1Q2007. The AMPS PCU contract was awarded by the US Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM).

The "9 1 5 " AMPS PCU provides Army Aviation a mission planning and battle synchronization tool that automates mission planning tasks such as route generation, performance planning, communications planning, terrain analysis, data transfer, and mission rehearsal. Army Aviation planners currently use an earlier version of the TSC-750M.

Due to expanded computing requirements for applications such as T O P S C E N C E ™ th a t provides simulation based mission rehearsal and Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) capabilities, the TSC-750M 915 is a ruggedized system that features the newest Intel® Centrino® mobile technology and ATI M o b ility™ R a d e o n ® X700 3D graphics processor. The 915 is tested to MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461E.

The Mobile Intel® 915GM Express chipset, designed in tandem with the Intel® Pentium® M processor, delivers exciting new performance capabilities such as a 533 MHz front side bus, dual channel DDR, Serial ATA, and PCI Express that significantly enhances the system's performance. The TSC-750M 915 also features the Intel® Pentium® M 2.13 GHz processor with 2 MB L2 cache, 2 GB of Random Access Memory (RAM), 100 GB SATA ruggedized removable hard disk drive, DVD+RW/CD, and IEEE-1394B Firewire interface. It also incorporates 256 MB Video Random Access Memory (VRAM) via the ATI M o b ility™ R a d e o n ® X700 graphics processor, bringing a new age of graphics technology and power management to TSC-750M 915 users seeking both breathtaking performance and true mobility.

The standard TSC-750M 915 system contains a 14.1" fully sunlight readable LCD display; removable 100 GB hard disk drive; and internally mounted floppy disk and DVD+RW/CD drives. The two internal removable LiIon batteries give the unit more than eight hours of battery life - the key to the portability and flexibility of the system in tactical situations. The 915 magnesium composite enclosure allows the unit to withstand a drop shock in excess of three feet ensuring continued operation in the demanding environment required by the soldier technician.

More than 20,000 units of earlier versions of the TSC-750M rugged laptop computer have been delivered in support of military operations worldwide. Many of these systems are already successfully deployed with US troops in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The TSC-750M 915 is designed to withstand the harshest tactical environment for computer systems and is used in forward areas under extreme weather and handling conditions.

"The TSC-750M 915 upgrade validates VT Miltope's continued commitment to the US Army's evolving need to provide our soldiers in the field with the most robust computing capabilities that work in the toughest tactical environments."

Brigadier General (US Army, Ret.) Tom Dickinson, President and CEO, VT Miltope

"VT Systems, along with VT Miltope, is proud that we can support our great soldiers in their continuing need for the most capable equipment available. We are committed to providing them the equipment they deserve ."
