NSK 200 - Secure Communication

Sectra Communications

By Sectra Communications, , Sectra Communications

The NSK 200 system is based on the Sectra Tiger platform and guarantees secure communications up to level NATO SECRET.

Sectra developed the NSK 200 system in close cooperation with the Norwegian defense. The project started out in 1999 with the goal of developing a national Norwegian secure GSM telephone. A new agreement was signed in 2001 to lay the groundwork for a larger market, which involved the further development of the national Norwegian GSM telephone into an international NATO approved one named NSK 200.

NATO Approval

NATO's highest military authority - the Military Committee - has approved NSK 200 for communications up to the security level NATO SECRET. As such, it is the first GSM system offering protection up to and including the classification level NATO SECRET. The encryption chip was developed by the Norwegian National Security Authority and contains the NATO-approved EINRIDE algorithm.

Communication SecurityNATO Supplier

Sectra's business partner, Kongsberg Defence Communications (KDC), is the official NATO supplier of NSK 200. The NSK 200 is aimed at the NATO organization, the NATO countries and Australia and New Zealand. NSK 200 users can be found among senior military and government officials, senior security and police personnel, and the secret service.

So far, NSK 200, is the primary choice to the Norwegian defense, the German Ministry of Defense as well as other prominent customers.
