SELEX Sistemi Integrati has identified and developed the solution to protect the EEZ, by its skills and experience in integrating relevant sensors (radars, E/O directors, shore based sensors and underwater sensing systems) and external assets (UAV, ships, satellite communications) within the most advanced command and control systems.
Nowadays the VTMS, in the concept of EEZ, is on service along with the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports to monitor harbour environments and to control and manage safe vessel traffic in highly congested areas, which are both critical necessities for sea search, rescue operations and pollution prevention, illegal fishing and immigration along the coastline.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati provides the VTS Mobile Unit (PMC) to fill coastal surveillance gaps in those areas where a fixed VTS post is not suitable. PMCs are conceived as "Local" VTS, connected to the relevant "Area" VTS responsible for co-ordination of activities at any time.
