TSC-750M Part Of $402 Million Five-Year Rugged Laptop Computer Contract.

VT Miltope

VT Miltope, as primary subcontractor to Science and Engineering Services, Inc. (SESI), has been awarded the contract for the U.S. Army Maintenance Support Device - Version 2 (MSD-V2).

The five-year contract, awarded in November of 2004, extends the successful deployment of the MSD program, which is currently supporting troops in Operation Enduring Freedom. This procurement provides the Department of Defense with its next generation at-system automatic test system that incorporates technical, environmental and ergonomic enhancements to existing maintenance and diagnostic systems.

President and CEO of VT Miltope, Brig. Gen. Tom Dickinson (U.S. Army, Ret.), said, "The MSD-V2 contract award validates SESI and VT Miltope's continued support of the U.S. Army in tactical computer systems and logistics, as well as our constant commitment to the entire test and diagnostic community."

The MSD-V2 is based on the Maintenance Support Device-TSC-750M (MSD) militarized laptop computer. An estimated 11,000 MSD-V1’s, 7,500 ICE kits and PCMCIA accessories are currently being supplied to the U.S. Army.

The initial award, in excess of $800,000, is for the manufacture, qualification and delivery of a small number of MSD-V2, with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) kits, with the total contract value estimated at over $402 million over its five-year duration. In program years three through five (2007-2009), the US Army may order up to 31,491 MSD-V2 Kits, 10,841 ICE Test Adapter Kits and peripheral accessory hardware such as PCMCIAs, cables, etc. All of the manufacturing processes are accomplished within the guidelines of ISO 9001-2000 requirements.
