Christy Research and Development Limited designs and builds bespoke desktop software principally for, but not only for, the military and civil aviation industry. CR&D works directly for the military or civil customer and also designs, builds and retains IPR ownership of all bespoke software supplied by other Christy companies.

Christy Aviation Limited fuses the combined military and civil aviation knowledge and experience of the founding directors to provide a highly effective range of consultancy services and supporting software. CAL expertise especially benefits joint military / civil operations and sectors where military and civilian aviation issues or interests cross-over.

After qualifying as a civilian pilot in 1984, Helen Christy went on to build a management career in civil flying training operations, before diversifying into property and joining Knight Frank & Rutley (London) for whom she subsequently established an Oxford Office. A Fellow of the NAEA, Helen then ran her own very successful, high value property business, before returning to aviation full time in 1993.

In 12 years as an aviation consultant Helen has worked closely with the UK CAA, the UK MoD and the three military services, as well as overseas authorities. Specialising in three principal areas of operation, a representative selection from her portfolio includes:

Civil Aerodrome Management. Start-up to licencing standard. Consultative Committee and Planning issues. Acquisition and funding advice, Viability study, Promotion and Marketing. Approved Flying School/training-fleet operations. Utilisation diversification including Business-Education partnership, corporate use, museum & heritage.

Aviation TV and Media. As a specialist broadcast consultant, Helen has extensive military and civil air-side filming experience. She has been responsible for the original ideas, research, planning and complex access negotiation for a great deal of ground-breaking filming of both military and civil aviation on network TV in recent years. Examples include:

Air Display. ADAE Member. Display Commentary, including BBC TV & ITV network commentary (live) FIAS.
Display organisation, including: 2001 RAF Valley International Air Day: responsible for display content, for setting up and implementing processes for participating air crew and for generating TV interest for the event. Working full-time on Station for 5 months, Helen delivered a 5 ½ hour flying programme inside budget and introduced an innovative software programme, run across the RAF Valley network, enabling flying display running order/timing changes to be seamlessly accommodated with instantaneous re-configuration throughout the display.

Helen is a Director of three of the Christy group of companies.
