The image is magnified by a high quality lens (x1.7) making small landmarks and contour lines easy to read. Illumination is achieved by the use of TRASER® light sources, giving a long maintenance free life in excess of 10 years.
The body of the instrument is manufactured using black polyamide and the unit remains unaffected by extremes of climate. Three standard versions are available:
- MR 0: Open version without bottom cover
- MR 25.50/6400: Sealed version with bottom cover calibration: 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 lateral, 0-6400 mils radial
Sealed versions are manufactured to withstand ingress of moisture and to prevent mould growth. Non-standard scales can be made to special order. A light tight webbing case is available allowing attachment to the waist belt (optional).
