Effective Information Management

BT Defence

Effective Information Management is a key driver in the push to achieve future Network Enabled Capability and allow the MoD and allied defence organisations to achieve their objectives.

Making it easier to access and re-use information, as well as recognising where patterns of information reveal something new, are a critical component of ensuring an effective defence and security capability.

An integrated approach
A fully integrated approach to support service provision is required if resources are to be fully maximised and deliver optimum:

  • Information Management
  • Information Exploitation
  • Information Assurance
  • Information Quality

Identifying existing capabilities and measuring them against future requirements plays an essential role in ensuring the development of best practice information management strategies. To deliver effective support services it is crucial that a full audit of current capabilities is carried out to identify pools of excellence and recommend specialist information management roles for future processes.

Having identified the skills and competencies required for effective information management, any gaps in the current training provision need to be identified and suitable training programmes devised that will address those deficiencies.

Understanding the issues
BT has a range of methods, tools and competencies, alongside a thorough understanding of defence and security issues, which enables effective information management strategies to be easily and successfully integrated into working practices. Our services and training act as a catalyst for the successful cross-fertilisation of best practice and encourage maximum stakeholder buy-in to the roles, structures and training required to optimise information management.
