SubscribeLong missions abroad, far away from the home country and its infrastructures, belong to the normal course of life for international armed forces.
The outcome of this is the construction of permanent military camps. They shall create living- and working conditions, which are closed to those in the home country. However such stationary constructions are preferred objects for attempts of terroristic groups. Therefore is the protection of permanent arranged military camps of high importance.
Especially for the protection of such military camps Robowatch developed an optimised robot. The CBRN reconnaissance robot OFRO+detect has been specialised for the protection of military camps. OFRO+detect combines several elements on a mobile platform: alert post techniques, detection of movements as well as video surveillance.
Over modern sensors, like the Multi-IMS (ion mobility spectrometer) by Dräger Safety, OFRO+detect is able to detect all current tactical gases as well as toxic industrial gases and radioactive material. In a network with further elements, like effectors or guidance- and support systems, the robot contributes to a considerable improvement of the protection of military camps
Instead of conventional alert posts drives OFRO+detect autonomously at the rate of 4 km/h along the border of military camps and reports the information (e. g. video recordings of the location, sort and concentration of the detected gases) to the headquarters by a military WLAN.
Thanks to the faster transmission of information and the strongly shortened response time is in case of coordinated attempts of military camps the considerably improved command of the armed forces.
