Armée de Terre receives first batch of VECTOR 21

Vectronix AG

As a replacement for the artillery's non-eyesafe 10km laser rangefinder, the Délégation Générale pour l'Armement (French Defence Procurement Agency) selected the VECTOR 21 from Vectronix AG.

The first batch of the 750 rangefinder binoculars ordered was received in January 2005, and further batches are scheduled at regular intervals up until 2006.

Several optional items complete the basic unit. The binocular enhancer boosts VECTOR's magnification from 7x to 10x. A medium height non-magnetic tripod facilitates precise, steady pointing. The remote trigger button on PLGR and PC cables ensures that the line of sight does not shift when a measurement is released. On-board processing power allows storage/re-display of the last nine sets of measurement data and provides auto-test functions for the user.

The French Army already fields 1800 VECTOR IV covering the whole spectrum of infantry observation and measurement tasks. Thus the current VECTOR 21 contract is the second significant award from the same customer for Vectronix, the former Defense & Special Projects business unit of Leica Geosystems.
