To fulfill stronger demand for mobility and protection in military vehicles, CWDT offers several solutions for hydro pneumatic suspension system, including the upgrade market.
A Hydrop combines a hydraulic damper and a gas spring in one element. The CWDT Hydrop has been developed especially for the suspension system of a military vehicle and fulfills the demands of MIL-Standards and CE requirements.
Based on many years of experience and supported by computer simulation tools, the characteristic of the damper and gas spring can be determined and realised in the design of the Hydrop. The highest mobility and best possible driving comfort for the crew will be reached. Additionally, an increase of more than 30 % in cross country speed is possible.
CWDT offers a wide range of Hydrop elements for wheeled and tracked vehicles. Depending on the available space, there are elements such as a one-tube version, where the damper and the gas spring are in line. In applications with limited available length, there is also a two-tube version, where the gas spring is parallel to the damper. Options such as levelling systems up to temperature effect compensation systems (TEC) are available to complete the Hydrops to a semi active suspension system to meet even the highest demands on performance.

Further features of the CWDT Hydrop program include low life-cycle cost, free maintenance for up to 10 years and high reliability.
For the upgrade market, CWDT has developed a solution with a Hydrop additional to the existing torsion bar suspension. The existing dampers are simply replaced by Hydrops. The Hydrops will take over the damping function and will carry additional load, which is especially necessary in upgrade programs due to heavier armour and additional equipment. With this concept, the effort in modification is minimized and the benefit is very high, while considering the increased mobility of the upgraded vehicle.

Besides the above mentioned features, the Hydrop suspension offers high flexibility: Asymmetric loads can be compensated easily, different vehicle configurations can be adapted very simply and even the characteristics of the suspension can be adjusted to the actual needs. The flexibility is only limited by the physics.
