Highly Detailed Diagnostic Tool Set Facilitates Network Administration
Multi-port Ethernet Media Conversion
Wallingford, CT - Multi-port Ethernet media conversion is now available in the CV-MCU2 Media Converter by Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies. With the addition of the Ethernet Bridging Module (EBM) option module to the CV-MCU2 Media Converter portfolio of products, users now have a flexible upgrade path from current hybrid legacy networks to an all-IP network. A single CV-MCU2 unit can now perform NRZ/CDI/FOM conversions and IP Media conversions in a one-RU chassis, providing market-leading density to applications where economies of weight and size matter.
Tactical Media Conversion Unit's
Ultra-DNE's CV-MCU2 is a tactical media conversion unit which can be populated with up to five option modules for media conversion. The new Ethernet Bridging Module (EBM) allows for two ports of full-feature 10/100Base-Tx to 100Base-FX conversion, reliably extending tactical communications networks up to 2 km over commercial or tactical multimode fiber optic cables. Multiple EBM modules can be installed in a single CV-MCU2 chassis, providing 10 simultaneous Ethernet conversions in one CV-MCU2. Additionally, each port acts as a full-function bridge, providing an economical path to separate collision domains.

Ethernet Bridging Module (EBM) Module Diagnostic Tools
A feature-rich diagnostic tool set accompanies the EBM module. Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) support can pinpoint link faults on both the copper and fiber interface, as well as provide remote loopback for testing the integrity of the circuit. The Dying Gasp feature alerts the network operator of a remote power failure. Traffic flow features include Flow Control (Pause), Backpressure, and real-time monitoring through traffic statistics. Finally, the EBM offers a Link Disconnect feature, to enable an operator to quickly pinpoint the location of a cable disconnect or break to within 2 meters.
In addition to the new EBM module, option cards for Universal Fiber-to-CDI conversion and NRZ aggregation are available, supporting protocol conversion and 4:1 multiplexing. The flexible range of populations for the CV-MCU2 allow the user to custom-configure a tactical circuit as needed. The CV-MCU2 has been installed in a number of tactical programs including TDN and DTC.
