Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System (RTCASS)

In 2003, SEI received a large subcontract from a major defense prime contractor for the Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System (RTCASS), a rapidly deployable automatic test station for maintenance support of aircraft avionics equipment. The multi-year RTCASS production program will be used to support several aircraft weapons platforms for the U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps.

Bradley Fire Support Vehicle (BFIST)

Systems & Electronics Inc. developed and manufactures the Mission Equipment Package (MEP) that transforms a Bradley Fighting Vehicle into a Bradley Fire Support Vehicle (BFIST). The MEP provides the Fire Support Team (FIST) with the integrated sensor package required to coordinate, control and deliver timely and accurate indirect fires on the modern battlefield.

KNIGHT – Precision Target System

Knight is a precision targeting system consisting of a laser designator / rangefinder, thermal imager, digital command and control, blended inertial / GPS navigation and targeting, and a self-defense weapon. Its mission is to provide precision far target location and laser target designation for both artillery and air-delivered general purpose and precision-guided munitions.

ESSI developed the Knight fire support system under the US Army's Warfighting Rapid Acquisition Program (WRAP) to meet the pressing requirement for a mobile targeting platform for its heavy and light division forward observers.

The current US Army production version integrates the base Knight targeting and communications package along with the AN/TVQ-2 Ground/Vehicular Laser Locator/Designator (G/VLLD) and the AN/TAS-4B thermal sight on two platforms. These are the M1025A2 HMMWV for both heavy and light division forward observers, as well as the Stryker Fire Support Vehicle for the new Brigade Combat Teams. A product-improved version of Knight will incorporate the new Fire Support Sensor System (FS3), enabling greatly increased target acquisition range performance.

Man-Portable Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar

The AN/PPS-5C Manportable Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar (MSTAR) is a versatile, low - power, ground surveillance radar. MSTAR provides wide - area surveillance coverage to a maximum range of 42 Km, night or day, in all weather conditions with a very low probability of intercept (LPI).

Its effectiveness has been demonstrated in both combat and peacekeeping missions during the Persian Gulf war and in operations in the Balkans and Afghanistan. MSTAR is extremely reliable with a proven mean time between failure of over 2,000 hours.

MSTAR is transportable by 2 men and placed into action in less than three minutes. The simple to operate Man Machine Interface (MMI) allows rapid self - location and surveillance area set up while providing sophisticated interface support features. MSTAR locates moving targets and uniquely classifies them as personnel, tracked or wheeled vehicle.

SURVEILLANCE AND BATTLEFIELD RECONNAISSANCE EQUIPMENT (SABRE)

As a full-spectrum reconnaissance / surveillance / target acquisition system, SABRE offers multi-mission/multi-platform flexibility, 'plug and play' sensor architecture, 'click and shoot' automation and commonality with other fielded systems.

Depending on the specific mission requirement, different sensor packages can be employed. Typical sensor suites include both thermal and daylight cameras, laser rangefinder and/or designators, and ground surveillance pulse-doppler or laser radar (LADAR).

System highlights include:

  • Heavy-duty stabilized sensor gimbal for long-range electro-optical surveillance and targeting, extended range laser designation and reconnaissance on-the-move
  • Various methods of sensor elevation for stealthy operation and observer protection
  • "Silent Watch" power management system for signature reduction
  • Automated digital reporting and flexible communications interfaces for digital connectivity
  • Open architecture and MIL-STD-1553B Data Bus for ease of future technology insertion

Technical and Management Services Corporation (TAMSCO)

Technical and Management Services Corporation (TAMSCO) is a Calverton, Maryland-based provider of information technology (IT) logistics and digitization services and a designer and integrator of telecommunications systems primarily for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

Multi-Media Communication System (MMCS)

The Modular Multi-Media Communications System (MMCS) was engineered by TAMSCO based on years of experience providing deployable communications systems to the field. The Modular MMCS offers flexible configuration options through the selection of special purpose modules.

The system is also a scaleable solution providing voice, video and data support for up to 1500 personnel. This allows a single system to meet mission requirements for both early entry and sustainment operations. The MMCS easily adapts to users requirements providing universal interfaces to legacy military and commercial systems.

The MMCS is designed as a dismounted system configured in high performance equipment cases of varying size and weight. Each case features a clearly marked interface panel for easy module interconnection. The system ships with packing documentation, component and system operating instructions and maintenance and trouble-shooting guides. System documentation is delivered on CD-ROM and is optionally available in hard copy.

The MMCS is comprised of 10 special purpose modules, which can be purchased and used separately or configured for use in any combination. The Core Module is the focal point of data service delivery and extension. Other modules are the Voice Module, Server Module, System Management Module, Data Encryption Module, Information Security Module, VTC Module, VSAT Module, Microwave Line of Sight (LOS) Module, and Support Module.

Each module has its own options allowing for extensive flexibility in architecture choices. There are 8 available system options which include a Tri-Band VSAT, and an option to integrate the MMCS into military or civilian style mobile shelters. Also available is a configurable Spares Kit based on modules purchased.
