DDC Demonstrates its GigEXTREME™ Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Network Access Controller at DSEI Show

Data Device Corporation

Data Device Corporation (DDC), a leader in data networking technology for aerospace and military applications, is demonstrating its GigEXTREME™ intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Network Access Controller at the Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEI) show in London, UK from September 13 through September 15.

The demonstration highlights DDC’s GigEXTREME™ ET-71000’s ability to minimize host utilization for military applications that require maximum availability of the host processor to perform mission critical functions. CPU utilization is reduced to less than 1% with the ET-71000’s TCP/IP Off-load Engine (TOE), compared to 50% CPU utilization for the single board computer’s native port, while maintaining identical throughput. According to DDC Product Manager Steve Goldman, “Using DDC’s GigEXTREME™ technology, host processor utilization for controlling data transfers is reduced to a few percent or less, freeing the host to perform more critical operations.”

The GigEXTREME™ demonstrates DDC’s continuing commitment to meet the multi-decade life cycle demands of military/aerospace programs, and the challenges of flight critical military applications and harsh environments. ET-71000 conduction cooled cards, with front and rear panel options, operate over a wide –40° to +85 C° temperature range and feature a dual redundant architecture with either autonomous failover or dual independent channels, supporting 10/100/1000Base-T or 1000Base-SX physical layer options. The PMC cards utilize a standard TCP/IP socket interface to support high-speed data transfer.

With the GigEXTREME™, DDC is now able to offer a broad array of networking products for military applications for use over fiber and copper at data rates up to 2GHz, including Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and Hi-Performance 1553 for high speed data transfers over existing cable using standard 1553 protocol.

Data Device Corporation (DDC) is an international leader in designing and manufacturing cost-effective High speed data networking COTS/MOTS products for the military, defense, aerospace and commercial markets. DDC offers full scale product manufacturing of digital and analog circuits, computer interfaces, instrumentation, and data networking systems, thick-and thin-film resistor networks, hybrid designs, motion controllers, and solid-state power controllers. Established in 1964 with the introduction of the first synchro-to-digital module, DDC has design and manufacturing facilities in their Bohemia, New York headquarters and Cork, Ireland.
