YED Ltd produces a hand held data monitor for both the ARINC429 and MIL-STD_1553 data buses. The data monitor is an easy to use diagnostic tool.
All hand held data monitors units are battery powered and the life on one set of cells is approximately 6 hours. An external 6VDC power socket is also provided for use with a standard mains adapter.
DATAIR-400 and DATAIR-400/TR
The DATAIR-400(/TR) Hand Held ARINC 429 Data Monitor can connect to an ARINC 429 data bus for instantaneous display of the active Labels on the bus. The ARINC data word associated with a displayed label can be viewed by simply positioning the cursor over the desired displayed label and pressing the “Select” button. The display will then show the ARINC word in binary or engineering unit format, the rate of occurrence on the bus in milliseconds, the SSM value and the Parity bit. The monitor will automatically adapt to and display the bus bit rate. Further filtering on the selected Label can be obtained by selection of the SDI field.
The DATAIR-400/TR also allows the user to generate a test word to simulate a specific test. The transmitter allows the user to set up a single label transmission and to modify the transmitted data field (bits 9..32) in real time. The Label to be transmitted is selected in Octal, as is the frequency and interval of the transmitted word. Single shot mode is also available. Edited binary data is displayable as a hexadecimal value in real time for those users who require this format. An Engineering Units Label Definition PC Software package is also supplied to define how ARINC 429 data can be displayed for the selected labels. The definitions are down-loaded to the unit via an RS232 link.
The package supports Signed binary, Unsigned binary, 2's Compliment, BCD and Discrete data formats.

DATAIR-1500/SR and DATAIR-1500/TR
The DATAIR-1500/SR & DATAIR-1500/TR Hand Held MIL-STD-1553 Data Monitor allows connection of the 1553 Triax connector on the end of the hand held unit for instantaneous display of valuable 1553 information on bus traffic, polling rates, non-responding RT's, low word counts, etc. Data is also displayable in hexadecimal, binary and user definable engineering unit formats.
The active RT, SA, Mode Codes and data words contained in a selected 1553
message are displayed in a scrollable list format, which can be scrolled by use of the << and >> cursor buttons.
Command and Status information for the selected RT/SA and T/R bit can be displayed which provides valuable information on the health of the bus. Information on the repetition rate of the selected message is provided to a resolution of 1mS. The DATAIR-1500/DR provides information when analysing dual redundant bus
operation indicating activity on Bus A or B. An Engineering Units Definition Windows software package is supplied to allow definition of custom display formats.
