Danish Aerotech was founded in 1992 with the purpose of establishing a private aircraft and defence engineering company at Karup Air Base, in the former main workshop for aircraft maintenance of the air force.
Danish Aerotech took over approx. 50 employees from the former main workshop of the Air Force, mostly aircraft mechanics, and therefore took over a major portion of the expertise gained from several years of work on a wide array of military aircraft for the Royal Danish Air Force. The main shareholder of the company was FLS Aerospace Holding.

The first contract to Danish Aerotech came in 1992 with the total maintenance support of the Air Force trainers, the T-17, a contract which has been re-won after an EU call for tenders in 1998. Through the first years the Karup site has also maintained and modified a large number of aircraft components and many types of ground equipment for the Danish Armed Forces.
Since the start, the company has expanded by taking over an increasing number of maintenance tasks from the Danish Armed forces and by winning contracts from both the military and civilian markets. In the civil aviation market, the Karup site has among other things reached a leading position as supplier of fuel cells repair and overhaul services to aircraft and helicopters operators with customers throughout Europe.
In 1997, the company expanded its activities with the acquisition of Nea-Lindberg, specialized in the field of electronics components and located in Ballerup close to Copenhagen. It has been involved in development and production of electronics components for military and civilian aircraft like AWACS, F16, Boeing 777, Boeing 737.
Other activities include components for missile launchers (power systems and complete launchers) as well as other defence material. The customers have been the main suppliers to the Danish Defence, for example Raytheon, Lockheed, Boeing, Wegmann, Shorts Missile Systems and Pilkington. In 1997 the development of modular and quick-change solutions for aircraft and helicopters was launched with the establishment of a program office in Karup.
In July 1999, DAO Aviation and Scandinavian Avionics acquired Danish Aerotech from FLS Aerospace Holding A/S. The acquisition included all activities in Karup as well as selected programs in Ballerup (formely Nea-Lindberg). Effective 1 December 2003, Jutlandia Holding A/S acquired full ownership of Danish Aerotech.
Jutlandia consists of a number of enterprises organised into a Woodworking Division and an Aviation and Aerospace Division, the latter including BenAir. The new, strong ownership ensures that Danish Aerotech continues to be attractive to our customers in the aviation and defence industry.
