Over the years, Armet has developed a variety of civilian armoured vehicles, designed to meet specific customer needs. Armet has established a worldwide reputation for excellence and thoroughness in the art of armoring vehicles.
Armet’s lightweight armoring technology, weighing only thirty nine (39) Kg per square meter, allows an Armet discretely armored civilian vehicle, to defeat all variants of 7.62 AP rounds.
LIGHTWEIGHT ARMOURED VEHICLES – MAXIMUM PROTECTION
Since 1999 Armet has successfully manufactured the Balkan series of lightweight 4x4 armoured vehicles. The Balkan is ideally suited for the Military or Police Service in peacekeeping or internal security operations in aid to the civilian powers. The Balkan has the capacity, after armoring, to defeat armour-piercing 7.62mm AP rounds, while at the same time allowing a payload capacity in excess of 1500kg. The Balkan Mk3 is available in a number of configurations that allows seating from eight to twelve combat ready personnel.
Following the success of the Balkan, Armet began the manufacture of larger armoured tactical troop carriers. These vehicles are known as the Guardsman series. The Guardsman can carry a crew compliment of up to eighteen combat ready personnel. The available chassis are the North American GMC or Ford products and the MAN 4x4 from Europe.
The recently manufactured Trooper, a more compact armoured truck has gained immediate sales, due to its ability to carry up to fourteen fully equipped combat personnel. UsingArmet’s lightweight APprotection, the Trooper has excellent side load protection against IEDs. The vehicle is based on the North American Ford F550, 4x4 Trooper.
Other armoured vehicles in Armet’s product range include, Command & Control vehicles, EOD trucks, civilian buses and armoured ambulances.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Armet’s research work is concentrated in the field of ballistics and blast protection. Armet is fortunate to have its own ballistic testing laboratory.Armet not only rigorously tests different types of ammunition presently available, but also explores ammunition that might be available to terrorists during the next decade.
Certification of Armet’s materials is also undertaken for independent ballistic analysis, by HP White in the United States and at other independent laboratories in Germany and the United Kingdom
