Recovery Tank
The Leopard ARV is based on the chassis and hull of the MBT Leopard I.In place of the normal rotating turret, AOB designed a stationary armored crew cabin. The Leopard ARV is equipped a crane, a main recovery winch, an aux. winch, a dozer blade and an APU. The crane has the capability of 360?traverse and a lifting torque of 56 ton-m. The main recovery winch has a 45 ton pull capability which can be increased with the aid of a pulley block.
Command Post Vehicle
The command post vehicle was tailor made to the requirements of a European customer.
- The basic idea of this project was to convert a standard M113A2 APC to a mobile command station operated by a crew of one command officer, two operator officers and one radio & communications operator (who can also function as the driver).
- The system consists of 4 working stations as follows:
- The Communication Station can be equipped with up to 5 standard radio communication systems, a flexible-neck personal light and a swiveling comfort reclining seat.
- The 2 Operators Stations are equipped with a computer, a GPS, a sketch board, a drawer, a folding table, a flexible-neck personal light and a swiveling comfort reclining seats.
- The Chief Officer Station is equipped with 2 sliding map boards, a table, a flexible-neck personal light and a swiveling comfort reclining seat.
- The crew members communicate using an intercom system.
- Storage cabinets for designated equipment and for personal stuff are located in both sides of the APC.
- The construction and the location of the stations and cabinets are modular and can be changed easily.
- The Seats of the crew members are based on collapsible mounts which are designed to collapse in case of a mine explosion beneath the vehicle.
Collapsible Seats
When a tracked vehicle detonates an anti-tank mine under its tracks, the energy is transferred through the hull to the crew. AOB's absorber assembly, installed in the collapsible seats, absorbs the energy blast and converts it to plastic deformation of the collapsible construction thus minimizing the energy transfer to the crew.
AOB?s collapsible seats kit contains collapsible seats for the crew, the commander and the driver.
The driver seat had been developed for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and had been adopted by the US army for the M113A3 fleet. The seat height can be lowered to a minimum of 350 mm above floor.The staff collapsible seat replaces the staff seat and its height can be set at any height between a minimum of 260 mm to a customer's desired height above the floor.
