The ZSU-23-4 (Shilka) tank is an old Russian tank whose systems were upgraded both automotive and mechanical (by AOB) and hi-tech systems.
The systems within AOB's design and responsibility are:
- New Engine & Peripheral Systems, including:
- Air Cleaner-two stages inc. a pre-cleaner and a positive scavenging system.
- Exhaust System inc. a muffler and piping.
- Cooling System inc. a powerful fan.
- Electrical inc. engine harnesses, CPU, charging system modification, APU control and alternators.
- Clutch upgrade inc. new type pads, modified pressure and refurbished friction.
- New APU (Auxiliary Power Unit), including:
- Engine.
- Alternator.
- Crew Compartment Heater, with:
- Dual air cycle system (burning and heating cycle).
- Military type.
- Crew Compartment Air Conditioner, including:
- Hydraulic or belt driven compressor.
- Operates while driving or stationary.
- Spot cooling.
- Separate crew from driver's (optional) air conditioning.
- Driver's optional Controls, including:
- System based on 'Smart' hyd. cylinders.
- Steering, brake & clutch power assistance.
- Ease of operation.
- Minimize driver's fatigue.
- Suspension, optional, including:
- Torsion bars ESR Production process and Double presetting.
- Resulting in greater performances.
- Greater Road wheel travel.
- Higher ground clearance.
- Longer service life: ~150K cycles.
- Power Assistance to Driver's Controls, optional.
- Suspensions upgrade (Torsion Bars), optional.
- Refurbishment of Remaining Systems.
