Patria Armoured Modular Vehicles

Patria

Armoured Modular Vehicles with three hull based versions.

The vehicle's modular structure makes it multipurpose and enables various choices of components and subsystems. For example, a wide range of weapons systems and heavier armour can be used to convert the Patria AMV easily from a troop carrier into an infantry fighting vehicle.

Its maximum combat weight of 26 tons allows the integration into the vehicle of a full range of weapon systems and various protection levels. For example, 7.62 mm to 105 mm turret systems or 120 mm AMOS/Patria Nemo mortar systems can be integrated into the Patria AMV.

At the moment, the Patria AMV is used by the Polish and Finnish armies and has been proven in combat by polish troops in Afghanistan. The vehicle has also given excellent performances during various tests and demonstrations in the harshest of environments all over the world, from arctic to desert climates. Its superior mobility rests on a combination of important design factors which have been carefully implemented and tested.

The most important mobility factors lie in its combination of wheels of the ideal size, independent suspension on all axles, a strong power line with all-wheel drive and its chassis construction. Together with a high engine power of 405 kW, these factors ensure high speed and outstanding on- and off-road mobility. The vehicle is also amphibious, to a total weight of up to 22 tons.

The Patria AMV family

Patria AMV family has been developed to provide optimal component modularity and to be adaptable between a wide range of versions, with no need for changes in basic vehicle systems, suspension or power lines.Patria AMV with a BMP 3 turret displaying its amphibious capability.

Versions are based on three hull models:

1. Basic Model for e.g. versions such as the APC, IFV, Command, Ambulance, Reconnaissance, ATGM and Recovery
2. System Platform with large rear compartment for e.g. versions such as the C4I, large ambulance, workshop
3. Heavy Weapon platform is optimised to carry large calibre weapon systems such as the 120 mm AMOS/Patria Nemo and up to 105 mm MGS.

Patria Armoured Modular Vehicles International Success

In addition to Finland and Poland (a total of 776 vehicles), at the end of 2006 the Patria AMV was ordered by the Slovenian Army. Serial production for Slovenia began at the end of 2007, covering 135 wheeled vehicles in several versions, including the Nemo 120 mortar system.

In 2007, Patria signed a contract with the Croatian army concerning 84 AMV 8x8 vehicles in several versions, while South Africa ordered 264 Patria AMV vehicles in 2007. In addition, the United Arab Emirates selected the Patria AMV in 2008. Several countries worldwide have shown their interest in the vehicle.
