Following changes in the European legislation and the new Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations 2005 that came into force in the UK in April 2005, the safe storage and transport of out-of-life Pyrotechnics/ Marine Distress Signals is becoming a compulsory measure to:

- Protect people in the event of a fire or explosion.
