Air crews in Iraq and Afghanistan go to battle with a proven winner - ATK'S M789 Lightweight 30mm ammunition (LW30mm). Used primarily in Apache AH64 helicopters, the LW30mm ammunition is battle-tested and capable of supporting numerous missions and tactics. The dual-purpose warhead provides the firepower necessary to penetrate armor while maintaining its high-explosive capability for use against soft targets.
ATK recently achieved a production milestone in medium caliber ammunition - the 10 millionth M910 25mm training round. Used primarily with M242 Bushmaster gun systems on the U.S. Army Bradley Fighting Vehicle and the Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicle, the M910 helps U.S. forces train like they'll fight.
Since production began in 1979, ATK has provided approximately 3.5 million rounds of tactical and training 120mm tank ammunition to the U.S. Army and its allies.
In March 2005, ATK became the first company to score a direct hit in the Mid-Range Munition (MRM) competition. The projectile autonomously searched for, guided to, and hit its target positioned beyond line-of-site more than three miles away - range.
