Military
Gaseous impurities are removed by a combination of techniques. Catalytic oxidation converts hydrogen (to water) and carbon monoxide (to carbon dioxide). Molecular Products manufactures two ranges of catalysts for this purpose. MOLECULITE, a transition metal oxide catalyst, is used in high temperature burners or purifiers. SOFNOCAT, a combination of precious metals and tin oxide, performs the same duty at near-ambient temperatures.
Other more stable and difficult airborne chemical contaminants are removed by filtration with SOFNOCARB activated carbon products.
