Televisión Canaria orders four Advent Newswifts

Advent Communications

Advent has supplied 20 antennas to Spain in 2006.

Televisión Canaria, the autonomous TV network for the Canary Islands, is purchasing four vehicle mounted Newswift satellite antennas manufactured by Advent Communications in the UK. This will give the broadcaster a Digital Satellite Newsgathering (DSNG) vehicle for every Canary island.

The contract was awarded following a successful tender by Advent's Spanish representative, dB Comunicaciones in Madrid.

"dB Comunicaciones won this tender because our bid offered the best solution in terms of technology," says Rafael Ochoa of dB Comunicaciones.

"We are supplying complete systems with controllers and eight DVE4000 digital encoders, which Televisión Canaria, will use on board the new DSNG vehicles." dB Comunicaciones has prepared the complete integration design and will install the equipment and provide local support in Spain.

Televisión Canaria, the Spanish language broadcaster for the Canary Islands, also broadcasts to mainland Spain and South America.

Advent Communications has delivered a total of twenty antennas and flyaways to Spain during 2006. Telecinco (TV5) and Canal Nou both purchased additional systems prior to the Pope's visit earlier in the year.
