Portsmouth Aviation (PA) has 30 years experience in the design, development and manufacture of Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) collective protection systems.
CBRN Collective Protection Systems
These systems were previously supplied for military applications only.
However, as the security situation in the world has changed, so too has the requirement for protection from Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear attack. PA's expertise has been applied to develop products with an application for the Homeland Security and Resilience market.
Business continuity, the need to provide continuing command, control and communication functions in times of crisis are critical issues. PA has developed and delivered products that meet this requirement.
CBRN Collective Protection for Buildings Protection
Based on the Radial Filter System, that has been designed to meet exacting military standards PA has produced a modular system that can be fitted very easily into new building designs, or, included as a risk reduction
improvement to existing buildings. The Company has developed a methodology to assess the most cost effective CBRN collective protection solution, which can be completed in a few days. This allows the building risk owners sufficient time to make a considered decision on what action they need to take. This process has been tried and tested on a number of occasions and PA now has considerable experience of working with facility and security management teams.
CBRN Collective Protection for Mail solutions
The risk associated with dealing with mail that is contaminated has been well documented. The threat to operators handling mail and the possible contamination of the building and subsequently the personnel within the building is well known.
PA has developed a modularised solution that significantly enhances the protection to the operators and as a consequence provides a major improvement to business continuity. Based on existing military standard equipment the Mail handling Units can be provided in containers that in the event of a CBRN attack can be easily isolated and removed to a safe area, or, as an easily installed bench unit that can be included a mail handling room.
Several units have now been manufactured and installed and the system has proven very reliable and inexpensive to maintain.
