Suunto, a leading sports precision instrument designer and manufacturer, is launching a new member of its award winning Suunto Core outdoor sports instrument collection. The Suunto Core Extreme Edition Red reflects the Suunto brand colors through its black aluminium top ring with a red accent.
Suunto Core has been designed to provide reliable, accurate data to confidently evaluate the surroundings. It combines advanced ABC (altimeter, barometer and compass) functions with benefits such as a depth meter, sunrise and sunset times, and a menu in four languages.
Available in a selection of styles from urban to outdoors, Suunto Core took the glory in one of the most renowned and hardest-fought international design competitions by winning the "red dot: best of the best" award at the red dot design competition in Germany last year. It has also been awarded with the Gear of the Year award by the US Men’s Journal in 2007.
Suunto Altimeter Watch
Accurate to 29,500 feet (9,000 meters), the altimeter in the Suunto Core displays current elevation, shows elevation gained and lost, and records sessions for review.
The automatic alti/baro mode switches between altimeter and barometer depending on the activity and so shows the most relevant information for each situation. The Suunto Core won the altimeter watch tests both in German Alpin-magazine and in Dutch Op Pad -magazine this year.
Suunto Core was a strong companion to the athletes participating in the Red Bull X-Alps 2009 event and helped to meet the extreme challenges that awaited the athletes during this challenging race. Suunto Core's altitude, barometer and compass functions were invaluable tools as the racers navigated their way through the Alps during this two-week long event.
The Suunto Core Extreme Edition Red will be available from November 2009.
