The kits will meet the operational requirement that enable the GID-3 chemical agent detectors from Smiths Detection, supplied for the US DoD ACADA program, to be fitted to Stryker vehicles in service with US forces.
The supply of these GID-3 ACADA ancillary items is a follow-on award after an initial contract, won in 2001, to equip 2,131 Stryker vehicles in service with six US Army brigades. The ancillary items include GID-3 ACADA chemical detector mounts, inlet assemblies, remote alarm assemblies, inlet and exhaust pipes as well as syringe and confidence kits. The kit will be supplied from Smiths Detection's Watford, UK, facility.
The latest contract means that since 1999, Smiths Detection and its Canadian Representative, Patlon, have jointly received orders valued in excess of £17 million for chemical detection equipment and associated ancillaries, to equip the US DoD and Canadian DND.
