The machine was selected based on its transportability, extensive test record, survivability and successful deployments in the field. Special preference was given to the tiller attachment with its proven effectiveness in ongoing operations, e.g. Afghanistan and Sudan.
The machine will be delivered as a containerized solution including a fully equipped mobile workshop, specially designed spare parts container, and technical support to sustain the machine through trials in the USA.
The machine will be equipped with a remote video guidance system based on a 4 camera configuration. Delivery will take place before end of 2008.
The US DoD Humanitarian Demining R&D program is part of the US Army's countermine division, offering extensive countermine engineering expertise and world-class fabrication and test facilities. The HD program is active in humanitarian demining projects in 11 countries to include Africa, South America, Asia and the Middle-East employing a wide range of mechanical and manual demining techniques
